Have a view in another project you want to import?

Working on a new project? Create a  drafting view for another project with the exact or almost exact conditions?  It is easy to re-use that existing detail.

You can import individual drafting views or sheets from another project into your current project.  Use the 'insert from file' tool found at Insert|Import.  Browse to the RVT file the view exists in, and then you are presented with a dialogue presenting you will all the available views to import.  Select the view(s) you wish to import and click ok and the views will be inserted into your project.

This works great especially for details that you already spent time drafting.

Want to become more advanced?  Create a new revit project that Only has drafting views in it of all sorts of details.  Use this same process to take the views from your current project and place them in the new revit project and you can start to build yourself a library of details!
