ipad app: My Measures & Dimensions

Many firms use Bluebeam, a piece of software that is a cross between Acrobat, Photoshop, Indesign and Design Review.  It allows you to markup drawings, color in areas and do a variety of other tasks and is used for everything from creating drawings for presentations to markups.

My Measures & Dimensions works much the same way.  You can take photos with the camera on your device, then mark them up with dimensions.  Much the same way you could with Bluebeam.

This app is most effective for an as-built verification of a building or other field work during CA.  Take a picture of a condition, measure it in the field, record the measurements on the photograph, then export the photo with the dimensions attached and email it to yourself or anyone else for verification.

You draw the dimension line, then type in whatever value it is (or should be).  The app doesn't try to dimension for you and contains no intelligence to that effect.  Relatively simple in concept, but a useful app.

It could be useful in other situations also, try some repairs at home, take a picture, mark it up, then have it with you when you go to the hardware store for parts, use it for landscaping in the backyard, or other proposals.

Best part, it's free!  Download it, try it out!  We have an ipad pilot team in my office, and it's one of the apps we are trying out.
