Annoying Blue Dots?

See a bunch of annoying blue dots on your plans? RCP's? These are (most likely) side effects of the linked structural model. They may be from elements in your model if you have drawn structural columns yourself, but most likely the structural elements (including columns) are in your linked model. You will see them in all your floor plans and RCP's, and they do print. Don't sweat, they are easy to turn off.

Go into your visibility graphics and check the box at the bottom that says: 'Show Categories from all Disciplines'

Expand the 'structural columns' category and uncheck the 'Analytical Model' and 'Stick Symbols' box and the circles should disappear.

If they don't , then make sure your linked models are set to get their properties from the linked view, or you will have to go into the visibility graphics for the linked structural model and turn off these same buttons.

You may also see a green line in elevations or sections at the floor level, this is a property of a floor, so you will need to expand the 'floors' category and uncheck the same box.

These 'Analytical Model' subcategories are shared through almost all of the structural elements (including floors, foundations, and walls) so make sure you hit all the categories if you keep seeing these annoying blue circles or other colored elements as they do print.

What are they for? These lines are used by Revit Structure and its accompanying load analysis plug-ins to calculate loads, but that is another blog post.
